The Beginning
An Idea of bringing a group of people together to form a Council or Social Services began.
Formation of CCVS
The formation of Colchester Council of Social Service, the CCSS was launched in May 1968. Then renamed as Colchester Council for Voluntary Service (CCVS).
CCVS becomes liaising body in Colchester
After recommendation by Essex County Council, Colchester Borough Council requested that CCVS become the liaising body between the voluntary and statutory services in the town.
Moved to Winsley's House
CCVS moved into Winsley’s House in the High Street, Colchester – where we still call our headquarters today!
Merger
The CCVS Colchester and Braintree merged to form Community360. Whether the focus of work has been financial support, fundraising advice, the distribution of news and information, the provision of transport or equipment, or the organisation of events, the voices of our membership provide a telling testimony to the work of Community360 today.
Communities helping communities
When the Covid-19 pandemic closed local services, Community360 brought together volunteers, charities, and public partners to support residents through food provision, welfare calls, prescription services, and vaccination rollouts.
New leadership and renewed direction
The appointment of Cris Huddleston as Chief Executive in 2025 marked the introduction of a new strategy and refreshed brand, strengthening Community360’s ability to support communities across Essex.
