We presently have a student – Patrick on secondment to C360 and as you will read below he would love to hear from people about their experiences volunteering. Please do get in touch and share your story with him.

Do you want to be part of an oral history archive?

My name is Patrick Fitzsimon and I study War, Culture and Society with the University of Essex. I have recently started a placement with Community360 with the hopes of recording oral histories to be part of an oral history archive established in 2019.  The archives ambition was to expand our knowledge of people and their experiences while volunteering. The establishment of this archive allowed volunteers to express stories that mattered to them, the impact volunteering has on their lives, challenging aspects of the work and their proudest accomplishments.

We would like to recruit people who would be willing to share their experiences. With particular interest in volunteers involved with armed forces charities and events.

The key details of the process include:

  • A short interview
  • Interviews to be held in early June
  • Choice over whether you want to keep anonymity or not
  • Opportunity to be part of an oral history archive
